What the research says

Giving schools laptops and tablets doesn’t improve learning. The research is clear.

OECD (2015) — 31 countries: Heavy investment in classroom ICT produced zero improvement in reading, math, or science scores. Students who used computers heavily performed worse.
World Bank (2020): "Providing hardware alone (laptops, tablets) has no consistent positive effect on learning outcomes."
Peru, Colombia, Uruguay, Israel — four national laptop programs, randomized trials, zero impact on test scores in all four.
What does work, in the same reviews (Escueta et al. 2017; GEEAP 2023):
