Privacy Policy

What This Service Does

Classroom Sims (classroomsim.in) is a free classroom quiz tool for teachers and students. Teachers deploy NCERT-aligned quizzes. Students answer questions on their devices. Teachers see which concepts students understood and which misconceptions are active.

What We Do NOT Collect

• No student names. Students join using animal pseudonyms (Tiger, Eagle, Peacock). We never ask for a student's real name.
• No email addresses from students. Students do not create accounts.
• No phone numbers. No phone verification is required.
• No photographs, biometrics, or location data.
• No Aadhaar or government ID.

What We Do Collect

• Quiz responses: MCQ selections and explain-prompt text, identified only by pseudonym and room code. This data cannot be linked to any individual student.
• Teacher account (optional): If a teacher creates an account, we store their email address for login purposes only. Teacher accounts are optional — quizzes can be deployed without signing in.
• Server logs: Standard web server logs (IP addresses, timestamps) are collected automatically and retained for up to 30 days for security monitoring. These are not linked to quiz responses.

How Data Is Stored

Quiz response data is stored on servers located in Mumbai, India (AWS ap-south-1). Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. We use Supabase as our database provider, which maintains SOC 2 Type II compliance.

Data Retention

Quiz room data (responses, analytics) is retained for 90 days after the room is closed, then automatically deleted. Teacher account data is retained until the teacher deletes their account.

Children’s Privacy

This service is designed for classroom use under teacher supervision. We do not collect personal data from children. Students interact with the service anonymously using pseudonyms. No parental consent is required because no personal data is collected.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties. Quiz response data is visible only to the teacher who created the quiz room. We do not use student data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than providing quiz results to the teacher.

Your Rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDPA):

• Teachers can delete their account and all associated data at any time.
• Since student quiz data is anonymous, it cannot be attributed to any individual and therefore does not constitute “personal data” under the DPDPA.
